TagMore Than Just Dinner & A Show…
On Friday, March 9 a group of Arts, Entertainment & Media Management students ventured to Second City Studios. Shahin Murray organized at Arts Management Network outing that allowed us to meet with Second City professionals. After the panel discussion, we went over to UP Comedy Club for dinner and a show. We were the first group in the theatre and were able to hang out with one another and order food and beverages. Flight of the Concords’ Rhys Darby made all of us laugh with his silly yet spot-on sound effects, strange on-stage movements and self-deprecating stories.
It’s That Time of Year Again in Music World, SXSW!
Many music fans consider this time of year like Christmas. Old bands coming out with new stuff and emerging bands trying to make a name for themselves and record labels throwing parties. South by Southwest (SXSW) is a private company based in Austin, Texas. The staff works year-round to deliver a conference and festival that includes film, music and media professionals. Audiotree, where I am interning, has invited me to join them in Austin, Texas and can’t wait to make the most of this experience.

Dear Abbey Pub, I Enjoyed The Kellen & Me Show
This semester I had to decide on whether or not I wanted to take a one-credit course offered by Columbia or pursue an internship for one credit. I struggled with the decision, but opted with the internship route. I decided that it is more important to start bridging the gap between the classroom and real world. On Thursday, February 16 I attended a show at Abbey Pub. The show included Jennifer Hall, Audiotree’s Kellen & Me and Ode.
I Lost my Weekend, Have You Seen It?
On Sunday morning, I headed to Hinge Gallery to volunteer for the day. Holly Sabin, a recent graduate of the AEMM graduate program, has opened her own gallery in Ukrainian Village. After spending most of the day at Hinge, I had to hurry home and get ready for a Grammy’s viewing party at Lincoln Hall, which was hosted by The Recording Academy Chicago Chapter.

Can You Teach an Old Dog an Art Trick?
This semester, I am taking Gallery and Arts Marketplace Management course instructed by Jessica Cochran. I am not well versed in the gallery realm, but I was attracted to this course because it highlights entrepreneurs in the art world. Also, there will be a number of site visits and guest speakers. I really value classroom experiences that marry theory to practice.
AEMMing High During my Last Semester
Orientation feels like it was yesterday, I still remember that feeling of butterflies as I walked to orientation. It is important that I make the most of my last semester. I need to continue to work hard, absorb as much information as possible, participate in extra curriculars and enjoy my fellow classmates. We will all be heading in different directions soon and things will change.
Juggling Extracurriculars And Doing The Finals Jig
Finals week was like a gong show! Busy, crazy and chaotic. Not only was I trying to finish what felt like an unmanageable amount of homework, but I also had additional responsibilities that I had to tend to involving my extracurricular activities.
