This irreverent meta-musical pokes fun at the entire “Carrie” canon through a punchy, rock-infused score. The cast features Columbia alums Dakota Hughes ’15 and Alex Newkirk ’11, both graduates of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance.

Preston Max Allen

As previously reported in this blog, Carrie 2: The Rage received its world premiere in 2017 from Chicago’s Underscore Theatre Company. Playwright-composer Preston Allen subsequently went on to write the musical We Are the Tigers, a “dark comedy horror musical” that ran Off-Broadway in 2019. And in 2021, Allen participated in a Zoom webinar organized by the Columbia College Career Center and the Student Diversity and Inclusion office called “Flipping the Script: How to Thrive as a Trans, Gender Nonconforming, or Nonbinary Performer.”
