Andrew Gorton, a 2000 alum of the Acoustics Program at the Department of Audio Arts & Acoustics was voted this year by his peers into the “40 under 40” list of outstanding professionals, published by Consulting-Specifying Engineer Magazine.
According to the Magazine editor “the 2009 40 Under 40 winners are among some of the best and brightest minds in the Acoustic Consulting industry. They’ve created innovative systems to solve difficult engineering problems, both in North America and abroad. These young geniuses have won awards and risen quickly to the top in their fields. They’ve worked hard to bring their projects—and their companies—into the spotlight”.
Andrew’s success continues a tradition of Audio Arts & Acoustics graduates who have become leaders in their field and are represented on a global scale in settings ranging from small firms to Fortune-100 companies, confirming that our graduates enter the job market equipped with highly valued and relevant skills.
Dr. Dominique Chéenne, Gorton’s departmental mentor, described him as a very bright and engaged student, who led an independent project to assess the noise levels at 1104 S. Wabash (the Ludington building), where the College was originally planning to move the Audio Arts & Acoustics Department.
After graduation, Gorton joined Paoletti Acoustic Consultants (now Shem Milson & Wilke/Paoletti – http://www.smwinc.com) and is currently an Associate at the Papadimos Group of Acoustic and Vibration Consultants, CA —http://www.papadimosgroup.com.
