Directed by faculty member Michael Brown, The Amateurs focuses on a traveling troupe of pageant players in medieval Europe as they roam from village to village performing the biblical mystery play Noah’s Flood during the Great Plague of the 14th century. As the plague begins to take members of the company, playwright Jordan Harrison brings the story’s historical setting into collision with our own present to ask: When does a crisis destroy us, and when does it open new frontiers?
