Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department Alums Support June 5-12 Supply Drive for Black Lives & Chicago Protesters

A group of theatre companies in Chicago’s Edgewater Theatre District are conducting a drive for donations of food and other supplies to redistribute to other organizations in Chicago directly supporting protestors and in neighborhoods where food supplies are limited. The participating theatres include Jackalope Theatre, a company founded and led by Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alums and former students; Raven Theatre, whose artistic director is Columbia College Theatre alum Cody Estle ’11, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing program; Steep Theatre, whose ensemble includes several Columbia College Theatre alums, faculty, and staff; About Face Theatre, whose artistic director is former Columbia College Theatre Department faculty member Megan Carney; and the Rivendell Theatre Ensemble.

The drive, running June 5 through June 12, is focused on collecting health safety supplies (including hand sanitizer, gloves, masks, and paper towels), food (including water, juice, milk, fruit and vegetables, packaged snacks, and pet food), and medical supplies. Donations may be dropped off at Steep Theatre, 1115 W. Berwyn, in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. For drop-off hours and more information, click here.

The drive was launched in response to requests from the Chicago Freedom School, Brave Space Alliance, and jail support locations throughout Chicago.
