Several Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department teachers and current or former students are pooling their talents for “Broadway in Oak Park,” a benefit concert to raise money for Open Door Repertory Company in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park.
Among the performers are Ashton Byrum, a coordinator of Columbia College’s Musical Theatre Program, who is also helping organize the event; Sharon Carlson, a voice teacher in the musical theatre program; Paul Amandes, coordinator of the Theatre Department’s playwriting program; Elya Bottiger, a junior in Columbia College’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance; and Dakota Hughes (BFA ’15), a graduate of the Musical Theatre Performance BFA Program. Bottiger was featured in Open Door’s production of The Marvelous Wonderettes last season; Hughes is featured in the theatre’s upcoming production of the musical [title of show], which Byrum will direct. That show runs January 15-February 21, 2016.
The concert takes place Saturday, November 7, at 8 PM at Open Door Theater, located at 902 S. Ridgeland in Oak Park. For tickets, click here or call 708-386-5510.
