Several Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni and students are involved in Runcible Theatre Company’s staging of British playwright Howard Barker’s rarely-seen Scenes from an Execution, the tale of a 16th-century Italian painter’s clash with religious and secular authorities over her painting of a Venetian military victory against a Muslim enemy. The cast includes alumna Georgia Gove and student Vic Kuligoski, and the lights are designed by alumna Claire Chrzan. The show runs through March 29 at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted, Chicago.

Columbia Theatre alumna Rachel Melius is joining the cast of the hit Mr. Burns, described as “a post-apocalyptic tale of survival . . . passion . . . and the enduring power of Bart Simpson,” now extended again through April 11 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont, Chicago. The show’s musical director is Theatre faculty member Andra Velis Simon, and Theatre student Spencer Meeks is a member of the band.
