Alluvion Dance Chicago, an emerging contemporary dance company founded and led by Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago alumnus Johnny Huntoon ’16, a graduate of the Dance Center’s BA Program in Dance, presents its second annual story show, 855 Peterson Drive, March 23-24 at Hamlin Park Fieldhouse Theatre, located at 3035 N. Co-choreographed by Huntoon and Gabby Jolly, a student in the Dance Center’s Dance BA program, the work is based on an original story by Chad Wilson, Assistant Director of Academic Advising in Columbia College’s Advising Center. 855 Peterson Drive follows a girl and her journey for independence, allowing the audience to experience love, loss, and the trials an individual goes through in order to have the life she’s always imagined.
Besides Jolly, the performance ensemble includes Dance Center alum Julia Kummerow ’15, a graduate of the Dance BA program; Nicole Flores, a student in the Dance BA program; and Morgan Cutler, a student in the Dance Center’s BFA Program in Dance.
The lighting is designed by Claire Doty, a student in the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s BA Program in Theatre Design.
Performances are Thursday-Friday, March 23-25, at 7:30 PM. Student tickets are $15. For tickets, click here.
Alluvion Dance Chicago‘s work is rooted in contemporary dance with elements of contemporary ballet and musical theatre style dance. The company seeks to create and display new and innovative contemporary dance choreography through a non-textual dance theatre style, bringing forward an understandable story, allowing up and coming choreographers a fully produced setting to present their work, and making this new form available to audiences and students of all ages and from all ethnic backgrounds.
