Dancer-choreographer-teacher Peter Carpenter, chair of the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago and interim chair of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department, is participating in a multidisciplinary symposium the weekend of February 23, 2018, at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Held in conjunction with a concert by Dancers in Company, the University of Iowa Dance Department’s touring dance troupe, the symposium — “Me and We: Collective Acts Toward Sustainability” — includes a panel discussion on February 23, with choreographer Liz Lerman moderating a group of speakers including Carpenter, and a public workshop led by Carpenter on February 24 titled “Choreographing Meanings/the Means of Production,” which explores the use of reflexive framing devices to find connections between the performance event and the outside world.
