Sara Maslanka

Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago alum Sara Maslanka ’13, artistic director of Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, will return to the Columbia College campus this week to perform in One Voice, part of an ongoing series produced by CDE that features stories of survival and hope through poetry, song, dance, and short plays. Columbia College and CDE are partnering for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April) for this free event on Thursday, April 13, at 5:15 PM at Columbia’s Haus Theatre, 623 S. Wabash.

Maslanka, a graduate of the Dance Center of Columbia College’s BA Program in Dance, will also lead a session of exercises in dance-theatre techniques on Saturday, April 15, when CDE partners with the Poetry Center of Chicago for a free dance and poetry workshop and reading from noon to 3 PM in celebration of Chicago Dance Month and National Poetry Month. The workshop will close with a special sneak preview of CDE’s upcoming dance-theatre performance Ethereal Abandonment (scheduled to run May 12-20). The workshop takes place at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 1650 W. Foster, in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. To reserve a slot for this free event, click here.
