Special Guest Faciltator – Crispin Torres
Crispin Torres is an educator, activist, and rock musician located in Chicago by way of Mexico City. He has spent the last fifteen years working in LGBTQ advocacy, organizing, and education. He has taught gender studies and American History, first at DePaul University and then Chicago Public Schools. Beyond his advocacy roles, Crispin is a performer and recording artist. He has toured and played guitar for the now defunct Chicago Punk Rock quartet, The Recruitment and is a member in Chicago’s premier gay Alanis Morissette Punk Rock cover band, You f**king Oughtta Know. When he’s not performing, Crispin serves as Lambda Legal’s Midwest Regional Community Educator, where he travels the country building coalitions and helping mobilize LGBT folks around legal, policy, and educational efforts toward LGBT civil rights. Crispin has worked with The Department of Justice, The Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, and The Illinois Department of Human Rights on educational trainings & policy reform. He most recently served as the 2015 co-Director of The Trans 100 and was the keynote speaker at Kalamazoo Michigan’s Transgender Day of Remembrance.
