Alumni of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department and the Columbia College Chicago Music Department are on the production team of Hand to God, running May 25 through July 10 at the Paramount Theatre‘s Copley Theatre, located at 8 E. Galena Blvd. in downtown Aurora, Illinois. This irreverent, darkly comic puppet play — a 2015 Broadway hit — concerns a Christian-ministry sock puppet that is seemingly possessed by the devil. The show’s production team includes Columbia College alums Jon Beal ’11, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Acting BA program, and Paul Deziel ’14, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Technical Theatre program. Beal is the show’s fight choreographer and “blood & gore designer,” and Deziel is the projection designer.

Columbia College alum Jeffrey Levin ’10, a graduate of the Music Department‘s BA Program in Music with a Composition Concentration, is the show’s sound designer.

Also on the production team is Theatre Department faculty member Susan Gosdick, the show’s dialect coach. And Paramount’s artistic director Jim Corti is a former Musical Theatre Dance instructor in the Columbia College Theatre Department’s Musical Theatre Program.

Hand to God is the second production in Paramount’s new Bold series, which brings fearless, thought-provoking, and unexpected new forms of live theatre to downtown Aurora at the intimate Copley Theatre.
