Columbia College Chicago Theatre Dept. Alums Discuss ‘The Art of Self-Producing’ at Siddons Artistic Council Panel Oct. 16

The Siddons Artistic Council of the Sarah Siddons Society presents a free panel discussion on “The Art of Self-Producing” on Monday, October 16, at 7 PM at the Columbia College Chicago Student Center, located at 754 S. The panelists include Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Almanya Narula ’16, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting. As previously reported in this blog, Narula self-produced and starred in her own award-winning solo show Noor Inayat Khan: The Forgotten Spy, at the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival in California.

The panel will be moderated by Columbia College alum Sar Cohen ’18, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting with a Minor in Stage Combat.

The conversation will examine the art of self-producing in changing cultural, economic, and artistic times. Panelists will explore self-producing in theatrical and cinematic contexts through the lenses of artist, promoter, and cultural worker. They will also discuss how connecting with and building community are essential to the vitality and sustainability of the work.

The Siddons Artistic Council is an arm of the Sarah Siddons Society, a Chicago organization dedicated to funding scholarships for promising theatre arts students at top Chicago-area colleges and universities.
