Columbia College Chicago Theatre Dept. Alum Featured in ‘Real Housewives of Motown’ Musical at Chicago’s Black Ensemble

Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum De’Jah Perkins ’18, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Musical Theatre, is featured in The Real Housewives of Motown, a new musical running through July 9 at the Black Ensemble Theatre, located at 4450 N. Clark in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. For tickets, click here.

Perkins portrays Mary Agnes Williams, wife of Paul Williams, the original lead vocalist of The Temptations, in this behind-the-scenes look at the private lives of the wives of male singing stars of Motown Records. Perkins’ performance is “expertly played,” according to a review in the Chicago Reader. “The Real Housewives of Motown is a show that not only highlights voices that have too often been silenced by revisionist history, it celebrates what these women did behind the scenes to help shape the landscape of popular music. This is not lowbrow reality television; this production is a beautiful labor of love that sings the praises of some of our most unsung heroes: the WIVES,” the review concludes.
