The country musical Always . . . Patsy Cline, which features faculty and former students of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department in its cast and creative team, has been extended due to popular demand at the Den Theatre in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The show now runs through the Christmas/New Year’s holidays, with closing scheduled for January 4, 2020.
Presented by Firebrand Theatre, Always . . . Patsy Cline features Firebrand artistic director and former Theatre Department student Harmony France, who alternates in the roles of country music legend Patsy Cline and Cline’s fan and friend Louise Seger.
The show’s production team includes Andra Velis Simon, a faculty member in the Columbia College Theatre Department’s Musical Theatre Program, who is the show’s musical director and keyboard player. Also on the production team are Theatre Department alums Rose Hamill ’16, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Technology with a Teaching Artist Minor and a Live and Performing Arts Management Minor; Lauren Griffith ’15, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Musical Theatre Performance; and JC Widman ’14, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Technical Theatre program. Hamill, Griffith, and Widman are the show’s production manager, assistant director, and stage manager respectively. Columbia College alum Emma Sheikh ’18, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Musical Theatre, is the band’s fiddle player. The show is produced by Jon Martinez, a former student in the Theatre Department’s Musical Theatre Program, who is Firebrand Theatre’s company manager.
