The LIVINGroom, an ensemble of solo writer/performers including alumni and students from the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department, will present three nights of new solo performance on Sunday, August 13, 20, and 27, at Stage 773, located at 1225 W. Belmont in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. Performances start at 7 PM. Tickets are $10, and student tickets are available the night of the show at the box office for $7 with a student ID. Among the performers appearing in the August LIVINGroom performances are Laura Reitsma ’09, a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department’s Acting program, and current Columbia College student Bo Kinney.
Alumnus Joel Reitsma ’08, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Acting program, is is the show’s director. Spencer Diedrick, a student in the Theatre Department’s BFA Program in Theatre Directing, is assistant director. Columbia College alumnus Jeffrey Levin ’10, a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Music Department‘s BA Program in Music with a Composition Concentration, is the show’s sound designer and composer.
The LIVINGroom explores self-empowerment, love, forgiveness, reconciliation, perspective, and the obstacles that stand in the way of being who you are through solo performance that integrates soundscapes, original music, spoken word, movement, and you, the audience. Anxieties will be probed through dance, personal polarities questioned through music, and old friendships surveyed for clues about our place in life now.
