Nothing Without a Company, an experimental theatre ensemble founded by Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Anna Rose Ii-Epstein ’07, presents 4PLAYs, a one-night showcase of new one-acts by local writers. The four one-acts are all set in bars. In keeping with Nothing Without a Company’s mission of site-specific theatre, the performance takes place Saturday, July 8, at Mary’s Attic, a bar located above Hamburger Mary’s restaurant at 5400 N. Clark in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
Ii-Epstein, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting, is directing one of the four plays: Accidents, by Leah Bognanni. Other Columbia College Theatre Department alumni involved in the event are Derek Rienzi van Tassel ’09, also a graduate of the Acting BA Program, who is directing Rebecca and Robbie Do Nothing at a Bar, by Tate A. Geborkoff; and Rachel Staelens ’08, a graduate of the BFA Program in Theatre Directing, who is directing Shotgun Preemie, by Kevin Sparrow.
The performance, a benefit for Nothing Without a Company, starts at 7:30 PM, preceded by a 6 PM VIP reception. General admission for the performance only is $25 — standing room only. VIP tickets are $50 and include early admission, VIP seating, a complimentary raffle ticket, and a complimentary drink ticket.
