Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department Alum Performs in June 21 ‘Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged’ Show at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York

Lauren Vogel

Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Lauren Vogel ’16, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Musical Theatre, will appear in the cabaret show Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged: A Modern Twist on the Major Hits on Wednesday, June 21, at the prestigious Feinstein’s/54 Below supper club in New York’s Broadway theatre district.

The show features fresh, fun renditions of songs from the beloved operettas of lyricist William S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan, the most successful musical-theatre songwriting team of the Victorian Era. These lovingly loopy, folk-flavored renditions of the light-opera classics were originally developed for productions of Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, and The Mikado by The Hypocrites, a Chicago-based theatre company with which actor-musician Vogel has performed. The shows were performed not only in Chicago but at theatres around the country, including the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California, and the Actors Theatre of Louisville in Kentucky.
