Columbia College Chicago Musical Theatre Alums Bring ‘Priscilla: Queen of the Desert’ to Chicago Jan. 12-Feb. 12

Former Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department student Jon Martinez is choreographing the Chicago premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, running January 12-February 12 at the Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway, Chicago. Presented by Pride Films and Plays, the show is based on the 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, about three performers–two drag queens and a transgender woman–who traverse the Australian Outback in a beaten-up bus nicknamed “Priscilla.”

The show’s cast includes Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Erin Renee Baumrucker ’06, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Musical Theatre.

Priscilla previews Thursday, January 12Friday, January 13, and Saturday, January 14, at 7:30 PM. Opening nights are January 15 and 17. Regular performances are on Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 3:30 PM to February 12. Tickets range from $25 to $40 — with 10% of seats sold as $10 access tickets for actors, students, artists, seniors and others who cannot afford the general admission price.
