Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alum Stephanie Shaw ’92 appears as part of the spoken-word ensemble BoyGirlBoyGirl in Warman’s Practical Orthoepy and Critique, an evening of stories inspired by Professor Edward Barrett Warman’s exceedingly thorough 1887 guide to proper English pronunciation. Shaw, a Theatre Department faculty member who teaches Solo Performance, is joined by David Kodeski, Diana Slickman, and Edward Thomas-Herrera in this “celebration of the agonies and ecstasies of language—from its delightful quirks to its utter failures.”
Shaw’s monologue — “Junot Diaz Made Me Miss My Period” — is described as “a breathless meditation on the definition of Story, and, along the way, Success.”
The show runs November 4-12 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. Tickets are $20, or $10 f0r students. For tickets, call 773-327-5252 or click here.
