Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alumni and students are appearing in current productions on Chicago stages. Alumni Ryan Jendrycki and Lucas Perfetti, graduates of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Acting, are in EL Stories 21: People Watching, produced by Waltzing Mechanics. EL Stories 21: People Watching indulges the fantasies we create about our fellow riders’ lives when we watch them from a distance aboard CTA trains and buses. Adapted from interviews with real Chicago commuters, the show is a kaleidoscope of the commuting public’s most memorable and hilarious encounters. Jendrycki is also in A Mess of Durang, presented by ColorBox Theatre at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N Halsted St. The show is a collection of short pieces by comic playwright Christoper Durang presented in a 1960s/1970s variety show setting. Aaron Lockman, a student in the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s BA Program in Acting, is in the cast of Whatever, a world premiere by playwright Robert Tenges, executive director of the Sherwood Community Music School at Columbia College Chicago. Running July 9-August 9 at the Side Project Theatre Company, 1439 W. Jarvis, in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, the drama concerns two suburban teenagers trying to navigate love, anger, and the bewildering adults who orbit their world.
