Edith Pedemonte

Interaction Design, MA

Hola! I am Edith (pronounced like the ‘Edit button’) and I come from the Dominican Republic, one of the largest islands in the Caribbean Sea, and just recently relocated to Chicago this past August. I recently graduated as an Industrial Designer from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) and had a chance to experience different fields inside my degree, like robotics, graphic design, product design and web/app design. Thanks to the support of my home country, I got the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree overseas. The reason I choose Columbia was for its MA Interaction Design program and the campus location; after seeing the curriculum and the possible areas of focus that I could immerse myself in I just told myself “This is what I want to pursue”. I’m super excited to be an international student here and I’m looking forward to all of the projects I will be working on for my thesis, and overall, be able to learn new skills with other like-minded people that are also interested in interaction design and the ways we can use it to help people.
