Entrepreneurship for Creatives, MA

As a vocalist, I have collaborated with musicians across the US and into countries such as Argentina, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. My sound merges R&B, pop, and alternative styles. I am now pursuing entrepreneurial dreams to combine my knowledge of Music Therapy with my practice as a Yoga teacher.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU WERE DOING BEFORE YOU CAME TO COLUMBIA.

Before attending grad school I actually completed my undergrad at Columbia with my Bachelors of Music and Minor in Music Business in 2022. After graduation I had business ideas and decided I wanted to come back to Columbia to bring those dreams to life.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE COLUMBIA FOR YOUR GRADUATE STUDY?

I absolutely loved my undergrad experience at Columbia and knew that I would get everything I needed from continuing my education here! During my undergrad I was able to make peer connections that developed into relationships and successful collaborations across all different kinds of creative fields. Also being able to be taught by professors with real industry experience and connections was the inspiration and motivation I needed to reach my own goals.

TELL US ABOUT A PROJECT YOU’RE WORKING ON THAT YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT.

In my current master’s program I am working on developing a business that incorporates Music Therapy immersive Yoga. It will incorporate traditional aspects of sound healing with new Music Therapy techniques. I will write and produce the music myself to synch with specific sequences so a practitioner will leave the class with a certain energy that the class was aimed around. I am so excited to continue expanding and developing my ideas for the business throughout the rest of this program.
