I’m a second year pursuing my MFA in Creative Nonfiction writing. I chose Columbia College to complete my graduate degree because of the competitive creative nonfiction courses. Before, I had been working as a journalist and I craved more creative outlets and immersion into a creative and artistic community which Columbia College provides. Currently, I write humorous essays but more recently I’ve been experimenting with hybrid and speculative works in preparation for the thesis work I will begin next year; I’ve been experimenting with form, namely working within the bounds of flash nonfiction in the hopes of crafting a flash memoir, or flash essay collection.
