Cinema and Television Producing, MFA
I am a 1st year Master of Fine Arts in Cinema and Television Producing student. I was born and raised in the best city, Chicago, IL. I received a Bachelor of Exercise Science from DePaul University and have worked a lot in sports on the operations and business side. I am an actor, comedian, writer, and producer.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU WERE DOING BEFORE YOU CAME TO COLUMBIA.
Before attending Columbia, I was studying comedy at places like the Second City, iO Theater, and other comedy institutions while working in sports. Marketing is storytelling. My marketing and sketch writing experience pushed me to want to pursue a degree in Cinema and Television Producing so that I could tell stories using my voice that are more representative of the Latinx and working-class communities.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE COLUMBIA FOR YOUR GRADUATE STUDY?
I liked that the number of students enrolled in the program was small because it meant that we would get a lot of attention, which would lead to us producing better projects. I also loved the fact that we would work with other students from other programs and departments to create films. I knew that I would build a network of creative souls that I could collaborate with on future projects by attending Columbia.
TELL US ABOUT A PROJECT YOU’RE WORKING ON THAT YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT.
I am currently working on creating two Short Films while still developing other stories at the same time. The most exciting project right now is the short film that I am the creative producer for and own the rights to because it’s interesting seeing my vision come to life. It’s been exciting learning the whole process of filmmaking, seeing stories come to life, and learning how to incorporate my style/vibe into all my projects.
