Forgot that I had a blog due, that’s how demanding Los Angeles has become. I guess if I worked for a paper I’d be fired. [Don’t fire me, guys]. Today kicks off week six of classes. Two more after this one, before we’re booted out on our asses, back into the big bad world. But let’s not worry about that just yet, because today we also begin principal photography on a short film I’m directing.

I’m representing Columbia in the Imagine Film Challenge 2014; it’s being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, as part of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association annual conference The Cable Show 2014. That’s too many big words; you can hit the link if you want to know more details. But I will say, that between preproduction for the film and the work we’ve been doing these past five weeks in class, Los Angeles has brought out the ultra productive side. And the forgetful side a little.

My thesis film Boyhood premiered in Chicago last Friday during the spring graduate screening at Columbia’s Film Row Cinema. It’s sad that I couldn’t be there, but I’ve been far too busy to give it even a moment’s thought. But now that I do think of it, I figure that’s how these final three weeks of school are going to play out. Between this week’s production, and the level of overdrive I’ll have to go into for two weeks afterwards with final assignments, my time with Columbia will come to a sudden halt.

Yikes! Hire me.
