Chicago: A Mentor and Friend
Chicago is a great city to study in but it is also a great city to live in and start a career. I am not orignially from here, so when I first moved to Chicago seven years ago I was concerned that this would not be a place I could call home away from home. But, Chicago challenged my fears and welcomed me with open arms and over the past couple of years it has been more than a home, it has been a mentor and friend. As a theatre artist, this has been an amazing place to grow and learn about the business and myself as an artist. There are more companies and artistic homes than one would like to count. There are artists from all over the world whose work you have a chance to witness and learn from, and if you don’t see anything you like you have the power and support to create it. There is a very supportive nurturing environment here and it is great place to experiment in many mediums and discover which one best suits you.
I completed my undergraduate degree here and now that I am pursuing my graduate degree, I feel confident in knowing that I chose the best city for me to study and learn in. As I build my professional and social network here, I know that no matter where I end up or work I will be ahead of the game because of the strength, drive and determination Chicago has granted me.
