The past month for this Music Composition for the Screen MFA student has been pretty crazy. In the past month, we have packed all our belongings into a 9×7 storage unit (it’s a miracle it all fit), traveled 2,600 miles (over 40 hours), lived out of six different homes, and celebrated Heather’s birthday, Olivia’s birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and our anniversary. It has been quite the adventure. More after the break.
We had some great help moving all of our stuff into a small storage unit. I don’t think our couch will ever be the same, but we got it all to fit.

Then we were off to Athens, Ohio, where my brother is getting his doctorate in Psychology. It was so fun to visit him and his family. One of our day excursions was to visit Old Man’s Cave, named after a man that lived there. It was a really cool little hike and fun to be out of the car!

Speaking of cars, as if Olivia did not have enough, she loved this little toy car.

And it was great to celebrate Olivia’s first birthday with cousins.

On our way out west, we made a stop in Muscatine, Iowa, to visit one of Heather’s friends and rest up for the long journey ahead. We drove fourteen hours the next day and stopped in Laramie, Wyoming, at a nice hotel there. For dinner we scored at the best restaurant we have been to in a while. If you are ever in Laramie, stop by Sweet Melissa Cafe. It is a vegetarian place, but don’t let that stop you. Neither of us are vegetarian, and it tasted great. Heather got a black bean patty hamburger and I got a black bean and sweet potato burrito. It was very good.

We finally made it to Idaho for Heather’s Birthday and were so glad to be out of the car. We’ve been playing catch-up with all of our projects. It’s been a good summer so far, and we are glad we still have a couple of months!
