Well, the summer is just about finished, and it’s time to get ready for the fall and the new semester. If you have read any of my previous blog posts, you will know I was gone most of the summer on a commission. I will be following up this post with one about my final leg of that journey, but for now I will let you know what I have been up to since I have been home.

I had planned to do a bunch of shooting for my own work this summer. The spring semester ended with me just finding my imagery, and I had planned to be working on it all through the 4-month break. But because of my absence, I was unable to get as much done as I had wanted.

When I returned from Vietnam, the first thing I did was start to set up shoots with models that I had made some sort of contact with over the summer. I was able to get three shoots set up, and managed to get a last minute fourth one as well.

I traveled up to the Twin Cities (a favorite shooting spot of mine) and stayed for two days, getting all four shots done. It was an incredible amount of work for me, and I was completely exhausted afterwards. Most of my work comes in the form of contacting models, locations, and more recently, parents (my models are now mainly under 18). I think I spent most of the four days I was gone on the phone talking with someone.

Now, all the film is getting processed, and it will be picked up and printed by the time you read this. Even though I didn’t get quite as much done as I had wanted, I still got 10 images shot this summer. For me, that is about a year’s worth of work, so I feel like I have a good base for the fall.
