I specifically prefer to be alone now. And I don’t like that.

Being lonely feels a little too comfortable lately. While I’m grateful to have finally learned to appreciate my time alone, it’s becoming too easy. I specifically prefer to be alone now. And I don’t like that.

Spending a whole year mostly alone and in the comfort of my home during this time is a privilege. But now that I’ve been in my own company and comfort zone for a year now, it’s going to be a little bumpy adjusting into “normal life, at least for me. Even just going to the grocery store and my one in-person class is socially exhausting. I’m so used to being comfortable that I don’t even like wearing jeans anymore.

Everyone is itching to get back to normal life. Don’t get me wrong, I am too. But if you are apprehensive and nervous about how exactly that’s going to look like, you’re not alone. A lot has happened this year. We’ve had to develop new habits and our perspectives have changed, so going back to “normal” is going to be difficult for many people, including myself.

Until next time,

B
