Illustration student Untitled watercolor 1 and 2, 4” x 4” Artist Statement: I’m second generation. My family is from Guerrero, Mexico. My family’s culture is a huge inspiration for my work. Growing up listening to folk stories and visiting the mother land has inspired me to create pieces of these characters from Guerrero. I rarely see artworks here that show these characters, it’s mainly skull candies, and day of the dead characters that is displayed. There is more to Mexican culture than just day of the dead images, and I want to show that. I want to show this other world in my style.
