SPRING SEMESTER: TOP 8

SPRING SEMESTER: TOP 8

Hopefully, you’ve caught up on your sleep, binge-watched some shows, hung out with old friends, and fully decompressed from last semester during your winter break.   You are recharged, ready to go, and done with winter.  Good news, spring semester is here.  Classes have started and it feels like you never even left.  Never mind the grey sky and sub-zero temperatures, it won’t be long before you’re pulling out the shorts and headed to the beach when summer is here.  Until that time comes, we’ve put together a little list of things to remember to help keep you up to date.
1. Alita Battle Angel –  February 5
Every year there is a movie that looks like it might be the greatest movie ever made until it comes time to actually watch it.  Is this going to be that movie?  We certainly hope not, but if you are getting cabin fever this February, it might be worth putting this science fiction film on your list.
2. Internship Fair – February 13 (Wednesday) 11am-2pm, 1104 S. Wabash
Meet companies and learn about internship opportunities that are available to you.  Explore, network, and talk directly to employers to find out what they are looking for.
3. Study Abroad Fair – February 27 (Wednesday) 11:30am-2:30pm, Stage Two
Ever thought about living in another country?  Learn everything you need to know about studying abroad by attending this popular fair.
3. Grad Expo – March 14, 10am-3pm, 1104 S. Wabash
If you are graduating this year feel free to attend this expo to double check you have everything in order.  Graduation is what college is all about 😉
4. Spring Break  – March 25 (Monday) – March 31 (Sunday)
Mexico, Florida, or the Bahamas on your private yacht?  If not, how about a staycation and a Game Of Thrones marathon to get ready for the final season.
5. Biggest Mouth – April 18, The Metro
Take a well-deserved break and head over to Chicago’s iconic Metro.  One of the most popular events of the school year, the venue is always packed with people experiencing the best music Columbia students have to offer. Watch as Columbia musicians perform and compete to win cash and stage time at Manifest.
6. Avengers: End Game – April 26
Is the end really here, or is it just the beginning?  The conclusion to many years of Avengers films and colliding universes takes place in what is sure to be an EPIC film.
7. Manifest / Semester Ends – May 10, Friday
Congratulations, you’ve finally made it.  Months of hard work and intense studying have led you to straight A’s.  Not bad at all.  Manifest is happening and you are ready to cut loose.  No more tests or projects due (for a little while anyway).  Let summer begin.
8. Commencement  – May 11-12 (Saturday and Sunday)
Oh yeah, one last thing, maybe it’s time to walk across the stage and receive your diploma.  The journey is complete.  Now it’s time to take your knowledge and give it to the world.  Job well done.
