If you’ve ever walked near Wabash and Congress then you’ve likely been right by the C33 Gallery.  Located in Columbia’s storefront windows at 33 E. Ida B Wells (formally E. Congress), the gallery is a tranquil backdrop to the busy corner of the el, cars, and swarms of foot traffic.

Run by DEPS (Department of Exhibitions, Performance and Student Spaces) the gallery has an ever changing volume of work.  Every few weeks you can view solo shows of students from  a broad spectrum of mediums.  Each shows runs about 2+ weeks long with a week in between to allow for setup and installation of the next body of work.  You can always see a great variation of Columbia student’s work by stopping in at any time. 

What makes C33 unique is the fact that it is the only open submission student gallery on campus.  Have a lot of work that you think is ready to be displayed and you are looking to have a solo show in Downtown Chicago? Look no further.  C33 is the space for you.  Not only can the mid size gallery allow for a lot of work to be showcased, as mentioned above, the space has storefront windows.  This allows for anyone walking or driving by to see some of your work from the outside.  With thousands of people walking by every week, the windows allow each artist to display a few pieces of work by not even needing patrons to enter the space.  Easy exposure!

Every year c33 accepts exhibition proposals for the semesters ahead.  The gallery is currently accepting proposals for Spring 2019.  If you would like your work displayed, or would like to bring together a group show with other people you know, apply now.  All relevant information can be found by clicking on the C33 page by heading over to colum.edu/deps
