The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago celebrates the end of the 2017-2018 school year with the Repertory Performance Workshop and Faculty Concert on Thursday and Friday, May 10 and 11, at 8 PM each night. The program features the Repertory Performance Workshop student ensemble, as well as other students at the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, and includes works by faculty and guest artists.
Choreographers whose work will be performed by students include Dance Center faculty members Paige Cunningham, Darrell Jones, Pam McNeil, Amaniyea Payne, and Meghann Wilkinson as well as Dance Center alums Rachel Bunting ’01 and Erin Kilmurray ’08, both graduates of the Dance Center’s BA Program in Dance. (Bunting is also a Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department faculty member.) Rehearsal direction is by Columbia College Dance Center alum and faculty member Margi Cole ’90, a graduate of the Dance Center’s Dance BA Program. The performances are open to the general public as well as the Columbia College community. Admission is by donation, and proceeds support the Student Dance Organization and the Dance Center’s student scholarship fund. No reservations are necessary — general admission, first come, first served.
The performance on Friday, May 11, coincides with Manifest, Columbia College’s annual Urban Arts Festival. The all-day free event covers Columbia College’s whole South Loop campus, featuring live performances, gallery exhibitions, readings, fashion shows, and more — all created, performed, and curated by students.
The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago is located at 1306 S. Michigan, in Chicago’s South Loop.
