Snow City Arts educates and inspires children and youth in hospitals through the arts. SCA provides one-on-one and small group instruction in the visual arts, creative writing, theater, music, and filmmaking to patients at Rush Children’s Hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and Children’s Hospital University of Illinois. SCA’s curricula in arts education are steeped in studio practices and work in tandem with the National Core Arts Standards and Common Core State Standards. Student workshops are assessed and extensively documented through a customized database and an extensive portfolio archive. The SCA team includes a professional staff of 5; an artistic staff of 9 part-time professional Teaching Artists; and numerous interns, work-study students, and volunteers. We are a small but dedicated, efficient, and creative organization with a broad reach.
Snow City Arts (SCA) seeks a part-time Teaching Artist. The Teaching Artist will report to the Program Director and works in collaboration with a Teaching Artist Advisor. The Teaching Artist will be responsible for developing and delivering Snow City Arts’ rigorous project-based curriculum, documenting student information, recording and assessing student learning in Snow City Arts’ custom-built database and other support tasks related to the delivery of Snow City Arts programming. Snow City Arts Teaching Artists are members of our staff on payroll, with guaranteed hours and other such benefits.
