Northlight Theatre aspires to promote change of perspective and encourage compassion by exploring the depth of our humanity across a bold spectrum of theatrical experiences, reflecting our community to the world and the world to our community.
Working under the supervision of the Director of Education, Education Associate, and assigned Lead Teaching Artist act as the Teaching Artist Apprentice, serving the school and programming you are assigned. Seeking candidates for classroom opportunities in January – June, to receive a stipend per classroom. Check out our programs at: northlight.org/education
Experience Includes:
One-on-one meetings with selected professionals in Chicago theatre for Q & A and networking.
Discounts to professional productions in Chicago, and invitations to intern networking events hosted by the League of Chicago Theatres.
Attending Northlight Opening Nights.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
5-10 hours weekly; days/times as scheduled
Act as an Teaching Artist Apprentice, attending Teaching Artist trainings, planning curriculum with Northlight Teaching Artists and classroom teachers, co-teaching residency programs, and providing support in the classroom to Northlight On Campus and Speak Up! residencies.
Track assessment and provide documentation for your assigned residency programs.
Attend Season Access student matinees at Northlight with your students.
Skills & Qualifications:
Seeking candidates with a passion for working with youth. Excellent writing and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail and ability to collaborate are essential. Access to a car is not necessary, but very helpful. Undergrads and recent graduates with an interest in arts education, teaching artistry, and arts integration should apply. Diverse and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
