FOX 32 Chicago is looking for a weekday morning web producer that excels at writing and is fluent in social media.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate must have a passion for news – both hard and offbeat – and needs to be a self-starter. The morning web producer works from 5:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and is responsible for updating FOX32Chicago.com, Fox 32 Chicago on Facebook and @fox32news. That involves writing and posting reporter packages from morning and noon newscasts, finding viral stories and other unique web content, monitoring social media for developments and leads and engaging with our audiences on social media. This person will be the digital lead on their own for the first half of their shift and work with the Senior Web Producer during the second part of the shift. Our goal is to have the largest social media audience in Chicago – the ideal candidate will have the ideas and energy to maintain and grow the audiences on all platforms. Candidates must be excellent at print-style writing, AP style, copy-editing and editorial gathering. Should also have basic knowledge of HTML and Photoshop. Preferred experience in Lakana content management system, Bitcentral, basic AVID editing, INEWS.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree plus 2–3 years of web writing and production experience either at a TV station, newspaper or online news outlet. Knowledge and use of writing for print with an emphasis on AP style. Understand user online behavior. Skilled in all areas of a/v digitizing and editing. Position demands excellent print/web writing, web editing and production skills. Handle multiple demands and competing priorities simultaneously in a strict, deadline-oriented environment. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work under pressure as part of a cohesive team
