Major broadcast network developing a medical docu-series to air on primetime is looking for a digital media manager/production associate. This position will take place on our field shoot in Chicago, so the candidate needs to be Chicago-based. The position will start this summer and last for approximately 4 months and may involve nights and weekends. This is a technical production job that will primarily involve downloading, ingesting and organizing cards, saving footage to master drives and organizing drives to be delivered back to NY.
The Media Mgr/PA job responsibilities include:
• Help collect footage from over a dozen videographers, who shoot every day
Organize, download, ingest, manage and maintain digital footage on a fast-paced, high stakes professional shoot
• Input metadata and any videographer notes about footage. Manage highly detailed tape list spread sheet. Some logging as needed
* The person will be using software such as Shotput Pro and Sidekick.
* Interface with series producers and copy footage on drives for producers to screen
• General field office tasks
• As needed, help provide related technical support when it comes to problem solving and troubleshooting, with the ability to exercise mature judgment
• Additional tasks as required
The candidate must have some media managing experience in the field – ideally on a nationally broadcast series – working with a large number of footage coming in daily from shooters.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, professional, and anal retentive with extremely strong organizational skills. They must be highly detailed oriented with a hard work ethic. They must also strive for accuracy when it comes to the labeling/archival system as specified by the post production supervisor and producers. The ideal person does every task thoroughly and won’t tolerate even the smallest mistake.
Must have a good knowledge of PC-based post production workflows. Some familiarity with Avid and camera kits is a plus. Knowledge of Sidekick and Shotput Pro also a plus.
If successful, there is a chance for longer term opportunities on future projects.
