Launched in 2010, Colossal is one of the highest trafficked art and culture websites in the world reaching a monthly audience of 3-5 million visitors. Our online gift shop, opened in 2013, ships thousands of orders annually to customers around the globe. We specialize in unique design objects, art prints, toys, and other fun and unusual gadgets connecting to our goal of carrying exceptionally fun things for creative people. The Colossal Shop is an online-only venture with editorial offices, warehouse, and fulfillment split in a fun office space in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood.
The Position
This is a full-time, salaried position managing the Colossal Shop’s entire e-commerce operation including procurement, sales, packing, and customer service. The varied tasks require an extreme attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects across several disciplines in a relaxed and creative environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
— Managing our entire e-commerce operation via Shopify, ShipStation, and Help Scout
— Fielding daily customer service requests in an exceedingly helpful and timely manner
— Sending weekly marketing emails, integrating content with the Colossal blog, and running social media accounts
— Packing and shipping orders daily, occasionally overseeing hourly assistants based on need, especially around the holidays
— Processing returns & troubleshooting shipping issues
— Adding and deleting products, organizing and suggesting store improvements to increase efficiency and sales
— Initiate sales and plan an annual marketing calendar
— Procuring inventory from vendors globally, ordering packaging supplies
— Helping to plan and execute an annual holiday pop-up shop
— Shelving new inventory & conducting monthly inventory audits
— Run various historical reports, review web analytics, and track the success of ongoing online ad campaigns
— Potential (but rare) overtime, usually around the holidays
