The Songwriting and Production Teaching Artist will:
– Work
cooperatively with a Foundations Of Music Program Director and staff to
plan classes at CPS elementary schools. Some of these classes occur
during the school day; others happen outside of school time.

Teach a comprehensive curriculum that includes instruction in song
construction including the creation of the beats/music, and lyrics.
Students will record their original songs using equipment provided by
FoM. Students will also perform their original work(s), typically
during the Winter and Spring school assemblies, and will walk away with a
CD of their recorded songs.
– Students in Songwriting and Production class will also learn about applicable music theory, rhythm and notation, and history.
Skills & Qualifications:
College degree preferred,
Successful completion of a background check through Chicago Public Schools
Experience performing, teaching and recording music is a requirement of this position.
