The School of Theatre & Music at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is seeking a theatre designer with strong administrative and teaching skills for a full-time faculty position in its newly revised Theatre Design, Production, and Technology* program, beginning August 2016.
This faculty member will play a pivotal role in building and administrating the Design, Production, and Technology program. Responsibilities include teaching theatre design, production or technology courses; working with the Head of Theatre to revise/implement curriculum and hire part-time lecturers; designing for the mainstage season; and maintaining a career as a professional in the field of theatre design or production. In addition, the faculty may serve as Production Manager for the theatre program including managing and maintaining production calendars, meetings, budgets; enforcing and maintaining standard workplace health and safety practices; attending staff, faculty and production meetings, and rehearsals as needed; and performing other duties as assigned by the Head of Theatre. All faculty collaborate to advance the School’s mission to develop practical knowledge, cultural sensitivity, intellectual resourcefulness, and imagination in emerging artists and scholars. Likewise, all faculty are expected to serve on committees, and to participate in student advising and recruitment.
