Sandra Kumorowski 

Associate Professor of Instruction

Biography 

Sandra has over 17 years of experience in strategic marketing and communication including project work for Apple, Microsoft, Nordstrom, The Art Institute of Chicago, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, and other brands and is a founder of a business strategy consultancy that offers advisory services in strategic marketing, communication, business development, and professional education. 

 

Since 2008, she has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Loyola’s Quinlan School of Business, Columbia College Chicago, Middlesex University London, University of Warsaw, University of Glasgow, University of Economics Prague, Charles University Prague, Tomas Bata University Zlin, and Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication & Media with research focus on arts marketing, media and communication, and museum studies. She regularly presents at academic conferences around the world and participates in international grant projects. Two most recent conference presentations focused on museums and media and took place in Lisbon, Portugal, and Dubai, UAE. Sandra just completed a 4eu+ alliance grant project focused on visual communication and PR and is currently involved as an organizer and lecturer in the GLOCAL Summer School (http://globallocal-erasmusmundus.eu/programme-overview/summer-school/). 

 

She holds a BBA (Economics & International Business) and MBA (Marketing & Operations Management) from Loyola University Chicago, completed two Project Management Certifications from Northwestern University, and World Art History Certificate from the Smithsonian Institution. 

Sandra loves spending time outdoors hiking with her husband and nine-year-old son. Her other passions include running, reading non-fiction, and baking. Her dream is to see Mount Everest. 

 

 

 

 

 

Calid Bowen 

Assistant Professor of Instruction

Biography 

Calid B. is a Chicago-based triple threat: producer, emcee, and DJ, pioneering his own sound and movement, Afrobang. Inspired by Calid’s upbringing as a first-generation African, Afrobang unites the African diaspora through music and curated experiences. Calid’s early Afrobang influences were rooted in family with his father being from the Ivory Coast and his mother being from East Orange, New Jersey. Calid was able to use his childhood experience to authentically shape Afrobang and explore the beauty and similarities in black American culture and African culture. Since its inception in 2016, AfroBang has since built a global community of supporters through several music releases, a weekly radio show, and merchandise that is shifting the culture.

 

Calid is also a seasoned marketing professional with a proven track record of driving business growth through innovative strategies and compelling storytelling. With over a decade of experience in the field, Calid has honed his expertise in digital marketing, content creation, and brand development.

 

Having worked with a diverse range of clients across industries, Calid possesses a deep understanding of consumer behavior and market trends. His strategic approach to marketing is rooted in data-driven insights, allowing them to craft tailored campaigns that resonate with target audiences.

 

As a creative thinker and a natural collaborator, Calid excels in bringing ideas to life and fostering meaningful connections with both clients and stakeholders. His strong communication skills and knack for problem-solving make them a valuable asset to any marketing team.

DeRondal Bevly 

Assistant Professor of Instruction

Biography 

DeRondal Bevly serves as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Columbia College’s Communications Department and the Business and Entrepreneurship Department. Bevly is the Founder and Managing Director of RubyRose Strategies, a strategic communications boutique that specializes in creating platforms for the managing, marketing, and distribution of content that allows brands to directly engage with customers, stakeholders, potential partners and new audiences. 

 

Possessing nearly two decades of combined professional and philanthropic experience, Bevly serves as a strategic communications advisor, working with clients to develop strategic messaging and collaborative communications that drive initiatives for their engagements. A “big picture” thinker, Bevly delivers across traditional and emerging communications platforms – particularly in the areas of crisis and corporate communications, digital media, and community/grassroots outreach – to construct favorable outcomes. Tapping into broad relationships across the public and private sectors in Chicago and beyond, Bevly thrives on connecting clients to the stakeholders and organizations that help them enhance their reputations and achieve their goals.   

 

Deeply passionate about developing and leveraging relationships within Chicago’s non-profit and philanthropic community, Bevly focuses that passion into developing inclusive solutions and connectivity as a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow (2014), an Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation Leadership Lab Fellow (2019), while also currently serving on the board of directors for Cara Collective, the Navy Pier Associate Board, the Publicity Club of Chicago and the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits. 

 

A Chicagoland native, Bevly earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
