Student Profile: Adithi Raghavan

Adithi Raghavan is a Sophomore Music Business major, graduating in May 2026. She aspires to become an A&R in a record label or publishing company that promotes the voices of the queer and South Asian communities. She has found the Business and Entrepreneurship department to be beneficial in connecting her with other women of color who share similar goals and looks forward to the rest of her years here at Columbia College Chicago.

1) Where are you from and what made you come to Columbia College Chicago?

I was brought up in the DMV area (where Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia overlap) but have since moved to Chicago after starting at Columbia in 2021.

2) How do you feel the Business and Entrepreneurship department has been beneficial in your time here at Columbia?
The Business and Entrepreneurship Department has been helpful in putting me in the same spaces as other women of color who have similar dreams and goals as I do. Though the department has much more progress to make in terms of diversity, I’ve had extremely positive and uplifting experiences with the other women of color in my music business classes. I also appreciate the passion of my professors, such as Loren Wells and Clayton Smith in their teaching and feedback. Their enthusiasm for their own work motivates me to find excitement in my own.

3) Who is your role model in the industry that you want to get into and why?

There are many people I look up to in the music industry, but my role model would probably be Jaden Jeong, the creative director, and CEO of a highly innovative entertainment-tech company called Modhaus. I have been following his work since I was in high school and deeply respect his long-term efforts to create a more inclusive and transparent industry. I hope to apply the same persistence and unwavering code of ethics to my own work in creating a community for voices that aren’t always heard.
