One of the greatest parts of having a Columbia College education is being able to work with professors that are active and excelling in their respective industries. Not only does it provide a quality education with first hand accounts of current trends, but also the chance to experience it personally as a student. This past summer, that is exactly what four Columbia students had the opportunity to do with Jamie “Black” DeMedici and Dynasty Podcast Network.
As a celebration for reaching their 10 year anniversary, Dynasty Podcast hosted a 10-hour live stream broadcast at Public Hotel, a first in the music industry for Chicago. There were over 40 artists and industry guests including Columbia’s very own Justin Sinkovich and Alex Fruchter. The broadcast marked 10 years of Dynasty Podcasts and was produced by four Columbia students.
Dynasty Podcasts also hosted a number of events this summer for the creative Chicago community. One being a Snapchat workshop, featuring Red Eye’s social/digital media project manager, Akeem Lawanson and one of Chicago’s leading Snapchat specialists, Keith Smith. Hosted at SEA Institute Chicago, this free event focused on the value of Snapchat as a platform, strategies for brands and live demonstrations.
