Department Spotlight: Entrepreneurship Classes Fund Scholarships
Students in the business program raise $10,000 during 2014-2015 for the Clark Greene Scholarship fund
This past spring semester, over 40 Business & Entrepreneurship student-run businesses came together to raise $5000 for the Clark Greene Entrepreneurship Scholarship.
Each semester, ten different sections of the undergraduate Entrepreneurship class form teams to implement a unique business idea. All earnings made throughout the semester go to the Clark Greene Scholarship, given to deserving undergraduate students in the Business & Entrepreneurship department.
The winning team, Pink Brain Productions, hosted a city-wide concert featuring local bands, three of which were comprised of Columbia College alumni. The concert yielded $1300 in profit for the scholarship fund and received sponsorships from Whole Foods Market and West Loop Salumi. Members of team Pink Brain Productions were: Melissa Fitzgerald (CEO), Aly Mitchell (CFO), Morgan Glader (COO), Jenna Doxrude (CMO), and Ellen Hager (CCO) under the leadership of adjunct faculty Andy Park.
The Entrepreneurship courses here at Columbia College Chicago truly foster collaboration among students in a creative, yet business professional environment. Students are able to gain the experience of running their own business, putting together a business plan, and a professional foundation to continue expansion for future entrepreneurial endeavors.
