Last week, I introduced the first eight producers. Here are the remaining seven, introduced by means of a film they each chose, which is somehow relevant to their character…

PRODUCER #9: KIA – CHICAGO, IL

Film: Titantic (1997)

“Titanic reflects my personal struggles, deciding whether to blend into society’s social expectations or rebel by making my own rules.”

PRODUCER #10: CHRISTIAN – TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

Film: The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

“Many times I have struggled financially – due to lack of job opportunities or business failures – but I kept hope, and persevered, and that’s how I have ended up here where I am today. Like Will Smith’s character said to his son; ‘If you want somethin’, go get it.

PRODUCER #11: LEONARD – CHICAGO, IL

Film: Larry Crowne (2011)

“Larry Crowne is a fish-out-of-water story about a guy who goes to college late in life, and it opens up a whole new world to him. It feels like an eternity since I was last enrolled in school, but sometimes life pulls you in new and exciting directions.”

PRODUCER #12: JESS – ST. LOUIS, MO

Film: Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004)

“This film addresses that time in your life when something bad happened that you wish you could just erase, but ultimately these events shape us. From heartbreak and failure I have learned so much about life, but without these I wouldn’t be the person I am now — a person who loves life and looks for the sunshine in every situation.”

PRODUCER #13: JOE – ROSELLE, IL

Film: Jerry Maguire (1996)

“Throughout college, I played four years of NCAA Division 3 football. I graduated with a degree in Business and worked in finance for two years. Jerry leaves it all behind to go out on his own and follow his dream. I’ve left the world of finance behind, and have come to Columbia to combine my business acumen with my passion for film, to follow my dream.”

PRODUCER #14: KAZUKO – BERKELEY, CA

Film: Empire Of The Sun (1987)

“I am a descendant of survivors of concentration camps, on both sides of my family. Today, Americans still have prisoners of war interned without legal representation in places like Guantanamo Bay. My desire in producing cinema is to fight for human rights and depict truths that are often too controversial to discuss over the dinner table.”

PRODUCER #15: CONOR – CARLOW, IRELAND

Film: The Snapper (1993)

Set in Dublin, The Snapper is the story of 20-year-old Sharon who still lives at home with her parents and many siblings. When she becomes pregnant and refuses to name the father, insisting it’s a Spanish sailor, she becomes the talk of the town. The Snapper captures the essence of Irish life and takes me home.

That’s that! From just down the road here in Chicago, throughout North America, into the Caribbean, across to Europe, and down to the southern most tip of Africa, we’re a diverse bunch from many different backgrounds. Now that you’ve briefly met us, it’d be great to get to know you guys. Feel free to ask any questions, of any of us, and tell us a bit about your background or maybe even what film represents some part of you!
