Submissions for the 2019 Young Authors Writing Competition are now closed. On behalf of the English and Creative Writing Department of Columbia College Chicago, we want to thank all of the talented writers who have submitted their stories, poems, and essays. In all, we received close to 1500 different entries!

Now, our judges look forward to reading your work. Near the end of March, we will notify the winning authors in each category. The winning authors will then have the option of having their work posted on this blog for all to read.

Finally, everyone who submitted work to the contest should continue to check their e-mail for messages from the Young Authors Competition. These messages will include writing tips and advice from Columbia College Chicago’s award-winning Creative Writing faculty, as well as information on public readings from authors who visit our campus as part of the English and Creative Writing Department’s Reading Series.
