Alumni and faculty of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department and the Columbia College Chicago Music Department are on the design team for the world premiere of Turret, starring Oscar and Tony nominee Michael Shannon. Produced by A Red Orchid Theatre, the show runs May 2 through June 9 at the Chopin Theatre, located at 1543 W. Division in Chicago. For tickets, click here.
The show’s scenic designer is Columbia College Theatre Department alum and faculty member Grant Sabin ’05, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Design Program. The show’s projections designer is Columbia College alum Paul Deziel ’14, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Technical Theatre program. Columbia College alum JC Widman ’14, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Technical Theatre program, is the stage manager. Columbia College alum Marcus Klein ’23, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s BA Program in Theatre Design and Technology, is the production’s charge painter. And Columbia College alum Jeffrey Levin ’10, a graduate of the Music Department‘s BA Program in Music with a Composition Concentration, is the show’s sound designer.
Turret is described as “an excavation of masculinity, love, loss and isolation. A claustrophobic carnival of carnage, carrier pigeons, cribbage, whiskey, music, mischief and mayhem.”
