Ryan Bourque (BFA ’09), a graduate of the Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department‘s acting program, is in the cast of A Red Orchid Theatre‘s keenly anticipated world premiere of Pilgrim’s Progress, by Bret Neveu. Bourque will share the stage with Oscar nominee Michael Shannon, a Red Orchid ensemble member, and the company’s artistic director Kirsten Fitzgerald, a Columbia College Theatre Department faculty member. Bourque is also the production’s fight choreographer.
The production’s creative team includes set designer Chelsea Warren, a faculty member in the Columbia College Theatre Department’s theatre design program.
Pilgrim’s Progress is set at a Thanksgiving dinner at which family storytelling is rife with holiday power grabs and decades of thinly veiled deceit. With nods to Albee, O’Neill, Williams and Shepard, the tension rides high and the carving knife does more than just cut the turkey.
Pilgrim’s Progress begins previews November 4 and opens November 9 for a run through December 13 at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells, in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood. For tickets, call 312-943-8722 or click here.
