The Point Theatre Project, a new company founded by Columbia College Chicago Theatre Department alums, debuts with an all-woman adaptation of John Knowles’ classic novel A Separate Peace. The production runs September 29 through October 14 at City Lit Theatre, located inside the Edgewater Presbyterian Church at 1020 W. Bryn Mawr in Chicago’s Edgewater/Andersonville Theatre District. Knowles’ 1959 novel, as adapted for the stage by Nancy Gilsenan, explores morality, patriotism, and loss of innocence through the story of a group of schoolboys at an elite New England prep school during World War II. Point Theatre Project’s all femme production aims to show a new perspective on peer pressure, friendship, masculinity, growing up, and examining our own privilege when the world is at war with itself.

The Point Theatre Project cast includes Columbia College Theatre alums Sarah Cohen ’18 (BA Acting / Stage Combat Minor), Tristin Hall ’18 (BA Musical Theatre / Stage Combat Minor), Rebecca Whittenhall ’18 (BA Acting), Chloe Streif ’17 (BA Acting / Stage Combat Minor), Meme Matteson ’18 (BA Musical Theatre), and Lucia Frisancho ’18 (BA Acting / Stage Combat Minor).

The show is directed by Jen Sloan ’17, a graduate of the Theatre Department’s Theatre Directing program, with set design by Tristin Hall and Columbia alum Emil Sueck ’18 (BA Acting), fight choreography by Chloe Streif, and sound design by Jen Sloan. The stage manager is Columbia alum Sierra Buffum ’16 (BA Acting).
